Philadelphia Pastor Resigns Amidst Federal Investigation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Archdiocese officials say the pastor of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish in Olney has resigned because of his involvement in a federal investigation.

The officials say federal authorities executed a search warrant at the church rectory, on Tuesday. A spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirms they were at the church Tuesday but neither he nor archdiocese officials would comment on what they were looking for.

The Archdiocese says only that the pastor, Reverend Geraldo Pinero stepped down, "for the good of the parish, pending the outcome of the investigation."

Monsignor Hugh Shields, the vicar for Hispanic Catholics, will take his place temporarily.
