'Bury Me In My Jersey'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Eagles are on the road against the Redskins for Monday night action so it might be a good time to tell you about one of the guys who turns, "fan," into, "fanatic."
Tom McAllister, a La Salle grad and Temple lecturer, was an obsessive fan:
"For several years, my best friend and I would sleep out outside Veterans Stadium for playoff tickets. We traveled to Kansas City for a road game and kind of acted embarrassingly there."
He also mentions a time when he stalked Tra Thomas all though a grocery store. McAllister realized this is not normal and grist for a memoir, Bury Me in My Jersey:
"In writing it I realized, I can't write this book about being obsessive and then just continue to act the same way so I had to make kind of a fundamental change. Now, I do pretty okay."
The title is actually borrowed from a Steelers fan's funeral plans. McAllister says, for a while, it seemed like a fitting way to go.
