Volunteers Needed For Kosher Meals On Wheels Program

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Meals on Wheels program is looking for help to make and deliver kosher meals.

When the Kosher Meals on Wheels program started, volunteers delivered just seven meals each week to older, chronically-ill home bound members of the community. Now more than a thousand meals are packed and delivered every seven days.

Nina Cohen, director of emergency food and home delivered meals for the Klein JCC in Northeast Philadelphia says one reason is, people are living longer than they expected, "A lot of times people are way into their 90's and people say where are their kids and she says there kids are now 70 and need help too.'

Volunteers are needed to cook, package and deliver the meals and you can find out more at kleinjcc.org.
