One Dead, One Injured In Car Accident In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A one car crash leaves one person dead and one person injured. The accident occurred along Morrell Street near Crestmont in Northeast Philadelphia.

The accident happened around midnight as police say two men were returning home from a Flyers game. The accident claimed the life of an unidentified 22-year-old male driver and left his 22-year-old male passenger injured. Fire rescue crews extricated both victims and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appears the driver lost control near a bend in the road, left the roadway, went up onto a sidewalk and struck the face of a NovaCare building.

The building was not structurally damaged and was not occupied at the time.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
