Elderly Man Jumped From Window Before Dying In South Philadelphia Fire
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 74-year-old man has died following an apartment house fire in the 1100 block of south 19th street in the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia.
The fire was reported just before 11:30 Wednesday night.
Fire investigators say the man tried to escape flames by jumping from a third-floor window to a second-floor roof area.
The victim was rushed to Pennsylvania Hospital where he was pronounced dead of a possible heart attack just after midnight.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury in the blaze which remains under investigation.
