Operation Baghdad Pups

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In Iraq and Afghanistan, our US troops are drawn to nearby animals as a vital way to cope with the emotional struggle and psychological hardships of everyday life in a havoc-filled war zone.

Operation Baghdad Pups is a special program that provides needed veterinary care and coordinates complicated logistics and transportation requirements for the sole purpose of reuniting these much loved pets with their eagerly awaiting service men and women back home in the US.

It's been proven that not only do these wonderful animals help our heroes with their unconditional love and dedicated companionship in the war zone when support is so desperately needed, they also help them with a smoother transition to readjust back home to life after combat.

You can help this dedicated worthwhile cause on Veterans Day, November 11th.  For more information, go to the SPCA International's website at SPCAI.org
