First Person Festival Kicks Off Monday At Painted Bride

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art kicks off Monday with a week of storytelling and performance.

The 9th annual First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art features live performances, author readings, documentary film screenings, food events and workshops to tell interesting stories from real life.

Founder and Executive director Vicki Solot says there will be, for the first time, a First Person Museum:

"Everyday people have participated in story circles in which they've shared their stories about objects that have great meaning to them. And they're going to be on display."

The festival includes the East Coast premiere of the hit show, The Real Americans, a tribute to hometown poet Sonia Sanchez and RAW: a showcase of new work by emerging artists.
