PENNSAUKEN, NJ (CBS) – Hundreds of people are gathering at Cooper River Park tomorrow, for a lung cancer walk in memory of a Mount Laurel, NJ woman who fought for a cure.
“Heather would be so proud of what her little idea, back seven years ago has blossomed into.”
Since the first one in 2004, the Walk for Lung Cancer has raised $500,000 for Lungevity, an organization dedicated to funding lung cancer research. Heather Saler (in photo) died of the disease in 2008 at age 37. She never smoked. Her husband Brad Saler says there is a misconception about lung cancer:
“It’s been looked at as a disease that people can control. It’s just not the case.”
This year’s walk is 10 am tomorrow at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken. More info at http://www.heatherswalk.com.
