Governor Rendell Gives His Post-Election Thoughts

HARRISBURG (CBS) - Governor Rendell, in his first post-election session with reporters, provided an unusual take on Tuesday's results that were devastating to Pennsylvania Democrats.

While obviously disappointed with the results of Tuesday's election, Governor Rendell seemed to suggest there's a bright side from his point of view:

"It's sort of the right result in terms of – it'll give people a chance to see the other concept of government."

By that, the governor says during his eight years in office, Pennsylvania has had a, "progressive, activist government":

"Now you're going to see the government without any impediment that is going to essentially reduce or eliminate government spending in most areas, and retrench. And people will get to see what that government produces."

The term, "without impediment," refers to the fact that Republican Governor-elect Tom Corbett will have a legislature with both chambers firmly controlled by his party.
