Parx Casino Adds State-Of-The-Art Poker Room

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Parx Casino in Bucks County is expanding again with the addition of a state-of-the-art poker room, the latest addition to its live table games mix.

When the expansion is finished, casino officials say the poker room will be the largest in Pennsylvania.

It features two dozen poker tables where gamblers can play Texas Hold-em, Omaha and Seven Card Stud.

Parx spokeswoman Carrie Nork Minelli says the poker room is located in Parx East, that's the building adjacent to the casino where the racetrack sits.

"Everything is brand new, everything is custom made and then we have all of our LED screens. We have about 50 screens all around that will be showing also hot sporting events and current events happening and news and that kind of thing," explained Minelli.

On the economic side, the poker room means 200 new jobs. There are test tournaments for employees this weekend. The dealing begins for real next Wednesday pending approval from state gaming officials.
