Lentz and Meehan To Debate For The Final Time

DELAWARE COUNTY (CBS) - The two candidates in the hotly contested seventh congressional district race in Delaware County will debate for the final time tonight, eight days before voters head to the polls.

The polls show Democrat Bryan Lentz and Republican Pat Meehan in a virtual dead heat. Analysts will be watching to see if either candidate can sway undecided voters with a knockout punch tonight.

One of the hot topics is the bill that would close the Florida gun loophole. It has the support of law enforcement but Meehan, a former prosecutor, won't commit. He says Lentz cannot get it passed…

"It is a state issue and he is a state legislator. He has the ability to go talk to the members of his caucus to move it to the floor."

Lentz says one of the obligations of an elected official is to be a leader:

"This is a bill that will support local sheriffs, local police, and local district attorneys and Pat Meehan's not even willing to take a position on it. That's not leadership."

Tonight's debate will be held at Neumann University.
