Philadelphia Police Officer Testifies About The Shooting Of His Partner

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia jury has now heard chilling police radio tapes and heartbreaking testimony from the partner and boyhood friend of Officer John Pawlowski (photo), who was murdered last year.

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty for the admitted killer.

They responded to a report of a man with a weapon, a knife, but officer Mark Klein says defendant Rasheed Scruggs had a gun hidden in his pocket and he fired without warning.

Officer John Pawlowski (photo) was fatally wounded and Scruggs was wounded as he fled while still firing. And officer Klein desperately sought help.

Officer Klein says he and another officer rushed Officer Pawlowski to the hospital then Klein says he sat on the curb and cried. Officer Pawlowski was pronounced dead a short time later.
