Benches Empty In Phillies-Giants Game 6

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Benches emptied in the third inning of Game 6 of the NL championship series between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants, but no punches were thrown by either team.

Giants pitcher Jonathan Sanchez hit Chase Utley with a pitch with no outs in the bottom of the third, and took exception to Utley tossing the ball back toward the mound after it caromed to him on his way to first base.

Sanchez yelled an expletive at Utley, who seemed surprised the left-hander was upset. Utley waved him off and turned around. Still both benches and bullpens quickly ran onto the field.

No players were ejected and it didn't appear there was any shoving. Sanchez was being held back by teammates and he was removed for a reliever.
