Energy Conservation Firm Sets Up At Philadelphia Navy Yard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A leading installer of home energy saving solutions in Europe is launching new US operations, which will be headquartered  in the former Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Wearing the Mark Group's company necktie at this morning's announcement ceremony, Governor Ed Rendell (center of photo) said the Navy Yard continues to take steps to become the leading hub for clean energy and the energy-efficiency field.

The governor says this venture mean new employment opportunities:

"We will have almost as many as 300 jobs here after three years. The Commonwealth has invested more than 3.2 million dollars in a combination of grants and loans, and it's a great investment because these will be well-paying jobs that will employee people.  And  to show you that these will be American jobs, their CEO hails from Merion Station, not very far from here."

The Mark Group installs energy-efficient products including insulation, heat pumps, and solar water heaters.
