Suspect Shot During Robbery At Mayfair Bar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A suspect was shot by an off-duty cop during an attempted robbery inside a Northeast Philadelphia bar late Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. inside McNally’s Tavern on Brighton Street in the city’s Mayfair section.

According to police, three suspects, one armed, entered the bar and demanded money from several customers inside the bar.

Investigators say an off-duty Philadelphia police officer, who was inside the bar during the attempted robbery, opened fire and struck one suspect. The suspects then fled the scene.

The suspect who was shot ended up at Albert Einstein Medical Center and is in critical condition.

The two other suspects were eventually apprehended by police.

No patrons inside the bar were injured. The shooting remains under police investigation.

    If more RESPONSIBLE people, not just cops, had guns it would be a safer world, imo. Of course they’d have to be highly trained, etc., but anyone who owns a firearm should be highly trained anyway.

    I know most won’t agree with me, but I really believe it.

      Glad to hear Philly’s finest saved the day. I agree with proper training, law abiding citizens should be ready to defend themselves.
