Cell Phone Dispute Nearly Goes Ballistic on SEPTA Bus

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) -- A Delaware County woman is behind bars, accused of pulling a gun on another woman inside a crowded SEPTA bus late last week outside the terminal building at 69th and Market Streets.

Upper Darby police say they have surveillance tape that clearly shows 58-year-old Cordelia Chisholm of Yeadon (above) pulling a .38-caliber handgun and threatening to shoot the 22-year-old woman.

Police superintendent Michael Chitwood says an argument broke out between the two women because, according to investigators, the victim was speaking loudly and cursing on her cell phone.

Chitwood says they credit a third person for defusing what could have been an explosive situation:

"And this good Samaritan steps between the two of them and pushes them back to separate them, because you could see it was a very hot and heavy argument.  And I believe his actions resolved any potential of a shooting."

That good samaritan was  32-year-old Rasheen Bingham, of Lansdowne who just took his sons for haircuts:

"I just remember seeing the gun and knew something had to be done. I don't call myself a hero, like I said it was just a knee jerk reaction, and I reacted, you know bullets can go anywhere, so the main thing was just trying to make sure they were safe."

Chitwood says the gun was loaded and there were children on the bus. Chisholm faces numerous charges including assault and reckless endangerment, and did not have a permit to carry the gun.
