PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — You have to imagine that college football fans in Collegeville are enjoying this season. That’s because the Division III Ursinus Bears are 5-0 and coming off the bye.
They have shown the ability to shut teams down on defense (a 10-7 win over Franklin & Marshall), or outscore them on offense (a 49-39 shootout victory over Gettysburg). Head coach Peter Gallagher talked about having a team that can adapt to any kind of game:
“I think our kids are comfortable in what we are doing. There is not an offensive or defensive or kicking play that we have that kids are unsure about what they are doing. I think that is a key that allows us to go out and play.”
Saturday, they will put that undefeated record on the line as they host Johns Hopkins. Gallagher said the Blue Jays are tough:
“They have several wide receivers that are very good, their quarterback is a veteran that is throwing it all around the place. Their defense is sound as well.”
Johns Hopkins brings a 3-2 record to Collegeville on Saturday.
