PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A 45-year-old Berwyn attorney, who was living in Moscow and formed the Apogee Foundation to aid young performing artists, has been convicted of so-called sex tourism charges.
Defendant Kenneth Schneider has been convicted of sexually assaulting the victim, who testified the abuse began when he was just 12-years-old and continued for years.
The victim was a gifted student at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow.
The victim, now 24 and married, told the jury during the trial he has suffered from depression and has had suicidal thoughts.
He was not in court for the verdict, but his wife’s mother and father were there. They talked to the victim and said that he is happy with the result.
Schneider, who is in custody, will be sentenced in January.
