Mark McDonald, Nutter Speechwriter and Former Reporter, Named Mayor's Spokesman

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Nutter administration has a new spokesman -- someone who used to be the one asking the questions.

Mark McDonald (far left in photo) spent more than two decades as a reporter with the Daily News, including sixteen years covering City Hall.

Two years ago he left the newspaper to serve as Mayor Nutter's speechwriter, but now he is taking over the duties of becoming Nutter's chief spokesman.

This means that instead of asking tough questions, McDonald will be answering them:

"I don't expect it to be pretty; I don't expect it to be easy.  It will require a lot of work to provide the information that you guys want, and to fit it in the context that is best understood."

McDonald succeeds Nutter's original spokesman, Doug Oliver, who has left for a position with PGW.
