Driver Arrested In Delaware Co. Road Rage Incident
BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS3) A Delaware County man was arrested for his role in a road rage incident that police believe was racially motivated.
The incident began at about 7 a.m. Thursday on Naamans Creek Road.
A nurse's aide told police she passed a 52-year-old driver, identified as Robert Lambert, because he was driving slowly. Lambert reportedly became irate and followed the woman to her work at a nursing home in Bethel Township.
Once the woman, who is African American, arrived at work, she claims Lambert yelled a racial slur at her and waved a gun in the air before driving away.
"I think this is a road rage that turned into a racial thing at the end," Bethel Township Police Chief John Cairo said.
Cairo said there were numerous patients at the nursing home and the situation could have been a "horrific scene."
Lambert was eventually taken into police custody and he remains behind bars. He is facing numerous charges including aggravated assault, harassment and ethnic intimidation.
