Former Chesco Teacher Accused of Child Rape

Philadelphia (CBS3/KYW 1060) A Chester County man is being held on $5 million bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing on charges he raped four boys, ranging in age from four to eleven-years-old.

KYW's Ian Bush reports that police arrested 70-year-old William Rhoads at his Maryhill Road home in Phoenixville on Sunday.

"It's a really sordid description of the facts in this case. He had various young children perform sexual acts on him, and then would videotape it."

Chester County first assistant district attorney Patrick Carmody says Rhoads sexually attacked the boys over the past five years.

Rhoads is a retired mechanical engineer and a former teacher at Villa Maria Academy in Immaculata.

Authorities say he was still coaching baseball for the Kimberton Youth Athletic League at the time of his arrest.

Charges against Rhoads include 40 counts of rape and 60 counts of making child pornography.
