Eastern State Penitentiary Historic site in Philadelphia’s Fairmount section is preparing for its biggest fundraiser of the year – ”Terror Behind the Walls.”

Gargoyles Perched Atop Eastern State for 'Terror'

KYW ‘s John McDevitt reports that one of the first visible signs that the Eastern State’s annual haunted house is getting ready to open is seeing of two six-foot high, 300 pound, smoke-breathing gargoyles perched atop the old prison.

Jason Ohlsen, creative director of “Terror Behind the Walls”, was on a 27-foot vertical scissor lift putting the ferocious looking creatures Carson and Frank in place:

“I think this is year five, so they are five-years-old — in gargoyle years, I think its 200.”

“Terror Behind The Walls” is open on selected nights starting September 17 and runs through November 6th. For more information, visit www.easternstate.org.
