Philadelphia police say they have information that a man wanted for raping a woman across the street from police headquarters a little over a week ago was in Texas over this past weekend.
KYW’s Tony Hanson reports that the attacker fled the scene without his pants and wallet. Last week police named a suspect, 33-year-old Alberto Suarez (see related story), and have been hot on his trail.
But police lieutenant Frank Vanore says Suarez (right) so far remains at large:
“Investigators received a tip on Friday that led them to the Dallas,Texas area. FBI fugitive task force did an investigation in that area and did attempt to serve a warrant. Albert Suarez was able to avoid capture in that area.”
Authorities fear that Suarez, who is believed to be in this country illegally, may have crossed the border to his native Mexico. He’s wanted for the rape and attempted murder of a woman at 8th and Race Streets.
Police say he fled without his pants when a passerby interrupted the attack (another related story).
