Police Search for Clues in Fatal Hit-Run

Philadelphia police have questioned several people but no charges have been filed as they continue the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run from Saturday morning in North Philadelphia that may have been intentional.

KYW's Jim Melwert reports the confrontation started around 4:30am on North 8th Street near Dauphin Street.

Witnesses say two women weren't allowed in a club because they were drunk. So they got into a car, and began targeting people:

"When she came around the block, she started hitting everybody on one side, went around the block again, then hit everybody on the other side, then came around the block and hit everybody on that same side."

A 20-year-old woman was killed; over half-a-dozen people were injured.

Normally such a crash would be handled by the Accident Investigation Division, but because it appears to be intentional Homicide is investigating.

KYW's Al Novack reports homicide detectives, the DA's office, and the medical examiner's office are all continuing to investigate Saturday's fatal incident.

So far no charges have been filed even though one person was taken into custody. Detectives say the DA's office is still trying to determine whether to label this a hit-run or a homicide.

In addition, police and the DA are also awaiting input from the medical examiner regarding forensic and autopsy results.
