No Serious Injuries in Deck Collapse in West Oak Lane
Only minor injuries were reported after a deck collapsed in the West Oak Lane section the city last night.
KYW's Mike Dougherty reports it was a terrifying end to a beautiful day for one family in North Philadelphia:
"We were just having a family cookout when the deck just collapsed."
Alex Beadis says he used all his might to help lift the debris to free his loved ones:
"Frightening just to see your family, you know, between a roof like that, no knowing if everybody is OK."
According to police, the deck slowly fell 20 feet onto a car parked in the driveway below. Seven adults and a three month old baby were rushed to Einstein Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
City Licenses and Inspections will check out the structural integrity of the home in the 7900 block of Michener Avenue to ensure it's safe to live in.
