KYW "Down The Shore" -- A Tasty Summertime Treat

According to Copper Kettle fudge shop manager Frank Demmerly, everybody loves fudge:

"A lot of families come down here ever summer, rent houses down here. The fudge shop is their first stop when they get down to the island and their last stop when they leave the island."

Demmerly says fudge sells well at the beach:

"We sell, on a good day, maybe 500 pounds of fudge."

This summer's new flavors include strawberry cheesecake, creamsicle, and root beer.

Lucille's Candies has been around for 83 years.  Production manager and head chocolatier Katheryn DaSilva (right) makes fresh fudge daily:

"Here at Lucille's we do everything on premises and we use all-natural ingredients.  The fudge is made from scratch. "

So, what are the magical ingredients in fudge?

"Three ingredients: sugar, butter, and cream.  That's all it is."

But for a beach lover's annual sugar fix, it's all that's needed.
