Backers of Ft. Dix 5 Say it Was a Government Setup

An appeal has been filed on behalf of the Fort Dix 5, area men convicted of conspiring to kill soldiers at the New Jersey army base.

KYW's John Ostapkovich reports outside Philadelphia federal court, family members and activists told a much different story than the trial.  Lejla Duka, daughter of convict Dritan Duka:

"They didn't do anything wrong.  The whole case was set up.  The only reason got arrested is because they were Muslims and the were loyal to their family members."

Lawyer Steve Downs of Project SALAM (Support and Legal Advocacy for Muslims) says this case follows the pattern of others:

"The FBI came up with two informants who spent months and months trying to induce these people into saying something that might be construed as a crime, trying to manufacture a crime, and that's exactly what they did."

Demonstrators say this is pre-emptive prosecution.
