24-Hour Comedy Show Raises Money for Local Nonprofit

The 2nd annual “Dazed and Amused” 24-hour improv marathon is going on now through 10pm to night at the Adrienne Theater near 20th and Sansom Streets. And this year it’s all for a good cause.

KYW’s Jim Melwert reports for 24-hours seven members of the Philadelphia Joke Initiative will entertain with improv games of both short and long form:

“There is some napping allowed but it has to take place on stage. You can leave to go to the bathroom, but other than that you’re on stage for 24 solid hours.”

Artistic director Alexis Simpson says it’s fun for the performers to see the different crowds that come in over the 24 hour period:

“That happened last year; we had a baby and a drunk like within hours of each other. When do you get to see that, Philadelphia?”

Proceeds from the marathon benefit Education Works, a nonprofit organization that works with Americorp to provide educational support to disadvantaged children.
