The city has joined forces with folks in the fashion industry.

KYW’s Hadas Kuznits reports that the Piazza in Northern Liberties (above) is where Philadelphia launched “Philadelphia Collection 2010,” an umbrella event encompassing the city’s fall fashion happenings.

City representative Melanie Johnson explains it’s a series of fashion events across the city taking place September 23rd through October 2nd:

“Trunk shows, films on fashion, workshops, panels, fashion events in-house, open-house fashion shows, and a few runway shows.”

Michelle Shannon, with the Center City District, helped put this 10-day event together:

“Our focus this first year was really on the retail aspect. This is for the consumer. This is where they can come and pick up something to buy today. So we’re all about shop now, spend now, and have a great, fashionable fall.”
