NJ Administrator Suspended After Gun Incident at Home

A Gloucester County, NJ high school athletic director has been suspended from her job after authorities say she shot up her husband's pickup truck.

KYW's Ian Bush reports that Donna Covely's spouse wasn't inside the vehicle, parked at their home in Sewell, NJ last Friday, when the police say shooting happened.

Cops were called to the home on Tylers Mill Road on reports of a domestic dispute.  They say they arrived to find that Donna Covely had fired his 9mm handgun several times into the truck.

She is charged with making terroristic threats and a weapons violation.

Covely has also been suspended indefinitely from her post as athletic director at Audubon High School.  The district superintendent, Donald Borden, says it's a private matter but the severity of the allegations has put her $112,000 a year job in jeopardy.

The Audubon board of education is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the case.

A woman who answered the phone at Covely's home on Tuesday hung up.
