Sports: Eagles' Practices Toughen as Season Nears
The hitting is picking up at Lehigh as training camp winds down for the Eagles.
KYW's Ed Benkin reports from Bethlehem, Pa. that with just three days remaining at Lehigh, the practice tempo is intensifying.
Defensive coordinator Sean McDermott says he is trying to get his unit into game mode without taking out anyone on the offense:
"From a defensive standpoint, when you're not playing against your own teammates, you don't let them get across the goal line. But we've got to keep in mind that these are our teammates and we have to learn how to take care of each other at the same time."
The biggest hit of the morning came from Ernie Sims, who hit Brent Celek on a pass in the end zone. Celek was shaken up but did return to practice.
