Some people love to run while others find it an excruciating form of exercise. But from a health standpoint, what is better, running or walking?

When it comes to protection against heart disease, several recent studies have found that walking for extended periods of time and with regularity can help. Twenty to 30 minutes, three times a week can help prevent the long-term damage. Running can have a similar effect, but since for many, it’s difficult to sustain a regular running program, there is no reason to down play walking.

The major advantage of running is that you can tone rapidly while burning calories.

Ultimately, it really comes down to what you will stick with. I think consistency is the key. You have to do something that you’re going to do on a regular basis.
