Cop Killer Eric Floyd Won't Plead For His Own Life

Convicted cop killer Eric Floyd will not testify on his own behalf before the jury considering whether he lives or dies.

KYW's Tony Hanson reports from the Criminal Justice Center that Floyd, 35, has told Judge Renée Cardwell Hughes that he does not want to testify or even be present in the courtroom as attorneys for co-defendant Levon Warner make their case for life in prison for Warner.

Floyd and Warner stand convicted of first-degree murder Philadelphia police sergeant Stephen Liczbinski during a pursuit following a bank robbery.

Floyd has been absent from the courtroom for virtually the entire trial and penalty phase.  He punched his attorney during jury selection. The jury has been told of that attack during the penalty phase.

Meanwhile, the attorney for co-defendant Levon Warner has been trying to make the case that his client's life should be spared because his life of crime was in part due to the brain damage he suffered during an abortive boxing career.

This morning the jury watched a Youtube video of a boxing match from 2007 in which Warner is knocked senseless in a first-round TKO by his heavyweight opponent, Joey Abell.

That was the end of Warner's brief boxing career.
