A retired Hammonton, New Jersey detective has been charged in connection with the hit and run death of a teenager in Atlantic County Friday night.
KYW’s Al Novack reports the Atlantic County prosecutor says 63-year-old Anthony Scaltrito of Hammonton was the driver of a pickup truck that struck Justin Montgomery.
Authorities say 15-year-old Montgomery was struck and killed on Route 50 in Hamilton Township around 8:30pm Friday (see previous story).
Scaltrito has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and tampering with evidence. He was arraigned last night and was released on bail.
An autopsy on Montgomery’s body has been scheduled for later today.
