The second annual Philly Naked Bike Ride takes place next month, and this year it is expected to draw an even bigger number of participants than last year.
KYW’s Hadas Kuznits reports Philly Naked Bike ride volunteer Heidi Fuhr says response to this year’s Philly Naked Bike is expected to be big:
“If you look at our list serve, yeah, we’ve brought a lot of attention to ourselves. It’s at least doubled since last year, so that’s pretty great.”
She says the goal is bring attention to the concept of sharing the road:
“Cyclists are supposed to be on the road according to the laws so keeping cyclists off the sidewalks would be great. It’s why we ride in the road en masse, and to help cars learn to see us so you know if we draw a little more attention to ourselves, every little bit helps.”
This year’s naked bike ride takes place September 5th:
“Everybody’s invited no matter what kind of cyclist you are. We’re hoping that everyone who rides a bike in the city will come and people don’t have to be naked if they choose not to be naked but they should join us anyway.”
A starting location will be revealed to those on the PNB email list on September 4th. To register, go to phillynakedbikeride.org.
