Phila. Officials Suspend 'PhillyStat' as Review Moves Ahead

Philadelphia's new managing director has put a temporary hold on a program that was a favorite of the previous managing director.

KYW's Mike Dunn reports Mayor Nutter's first managing director, Camille Barnett, created 'PhillyStat' as a series of twice weekly meetings to track complaints and problems and hold department heads accountable for dealing with them:

"It's a way to solve problems of coordination in real time."

But now Barnett is gone and the new managing director, Rich Negrin, has put PhillyStat on hiatus while he reviews its effectiveness.

The mayor's spokesman Doug Oliver:

"We just want to sharpen our pencils, tweak it a little bit, and the managing director will use the next several months to take a closer look at it. But we fully expect to return to the PhillyStat model."

Oliver says PhillyStat is not likely to return until 2011.
