As a Chester County family wrestles with the murder of one of their own, allegedly at the hands of an in-law and her lover, their minds and hearts are pre-occupied with another challenge –raising the three children left behind. Neighbors and friends in West Goshen and elsewhere are pitching in to help.

KYW’s David Madden reports Kevin Mengel will tell anyone willing to listen that Kevin, Jr. was “the textbook definition of a hard working, loving father”. With daughter-in-law Morgan now charged with murder, what’s to come of 12-year-old Mercedes, 10-year -old Kevin and six- year-old Billy?

The Exton Chamber of Commerce, which granddad Kevin used to head, came up with an idea:

“It is essentially a trust fund for any expenses the children may have between now until they grow.”

See their dad, as a new business owner, had no life insurance. Two events have raised $15,000 so far and more events are planned. But they’re reaching out to anyone willing to help. The trust fund is set up through Penn Liberty Bank in Downingtown.

Donations can also be made on line at
