KYW’s Mike Dougherty spoke with Silk Road Project executive director Laura Freid about the event:

“The audience will be very uplifted by — it’s very often fast music. But the message is a message that everybody can relate to: it’s the power struggle between peoples.”

Freid says it will be a performance to remember:

“This concert is going to highlight cello as well as, for example Chinese pipa or lute, western percussion as well as Indian tabla. And we’re also treating the audience in Philly to the sound of Galician bagpipes”

Once again, that’s August 11th.  Tickets for the show range from $15 to $72.  For more information visit www.MannCenter.org.
