Say goodbye to the R2, R6, and the like — and get ready for some possible confusion.

(The old signs, with "R" numbers and various colors, will get a makeover.)
KYW’s Lynne Adkins reports that Septa is changing the designations of its regional rail trains this Sunday.
The R, which stands for regional, is going away. Septa spokesman Gary Fairfax says the R numbers were confusing because of duplication.
Take the R-2, he says — there are actually two of them:
“We have an R-2 Warminster and an R-2 Newark line. So if a person is getting on in center city and they want to get on an R-2, they might get on the wrong line.”
Starting on Monday in center city, you’ll look for either the Warminster line or the Wilmington-Newark Line.
Fairfax says the change will be less confusing for new and infrequent riders.
The change will require new schedules (which are already available), new maps, and new signs. One other change will be the name signs on the side of the trains. They used to be different colors depending on the route. Soon, all the signs will be greyish-blue.
