Le Bec Fin to Close
For decades, it was synonymous with fine dining in Philadelphia, but chef Georges Perrier confirms he is planning to close Le Bec-Fin.
KYW's Jim Melwert reports Chef Perrier said the decision to close is the hardest decision he's ever had to make:
"When you have something for 40 years and you have done so well with that and you have the acclaim all over the world and the respect of all your peers all over the world, it's tough."
Perrier is working on three new projects, two of those in the city, though he won't say exactly what he's planning.
He did have an emotional meeting with his staff, making sure they heard it straight from him, he's promised them jobs.
As for Le Bec-Fin, Perrier says the world's changed:
"I knew that it would happen one day, but you know, you never expect it to come so soon."
Le Bec-Fin will close in the spring, likely June first.
