Cards Top Phils, 5-1

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Matt Holliday hit a tie-breaking home run in the bottom of the seventh and Felipe Lopez supplied a two-run double the next inning, as St. Louis defeated the scuffling Philadelphia Phillies, 5-1, in the third installment of a four-game series at Busch Stadium.

Albert Pujols stroked an RBI single for the Cardinals, who have won eight games in a row for the first time since a nine-game streak from August 27- September 5, 2004.

St. Louis' Jaime Garcia (9-4) yielded a home run to Ryan Howard, one of four hits recorded by Philadelphia against the 23-year-old lefty in his seven innings of work.

Joe Blanton (3-6) allowed five runs -- three earned -- on seven hits in seven- plus innings for Philadelphia, which fell to 1-6 on its eight-game road trip that started after the All-Star break.

The Phillies were held to one run for the second straight game and 23rd time this season.
