Last Call to Play Aronimink

by KYW's Ed Abrams --

There are way too many charity events in the region to get into listing them, but because I am the (ahem) "Special Guest" in Monday's Jay Sigel Invitational, I get a free pass to push this one.

I was asked to speak at the dinner because I am a prostate cancer survivor, and proceeds from the tourney benefit prostate and other cancer research at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center.

So it is a great cause.

But if you needed any extra incentive to get involved as a sponsor or participant, how about Aronimink, with the pins set in a same spots they were for the final round of the AT&T National?

Now you can experience what Justin Rose faced as he hung on for victory earlier this month.    (Note:  the tees will be moved up a bit -- we all want to finish before dark!)

While covering the AT&T, I had a chance to chat with Jay about the event and his Champions Tour career.  You can listen to that podcast here....

... and can get more information on the Jay Sigel Invitational here. There are still a few spots available for the morning shotgun (8am) start.

Two More...

Since I'm playing favorites, let's get it all out of the way in one shot.

My son John competes in Special Olympics, and there will be a charity golf outing in the fall to benefit all the great programs for Special Olympians in Delaware County, PA.  It will be a 9a shotgun start at Loch Nairn on Tuesday, September 14.   To play, sponsor, or get more info, email Special.Olympics@verizon.net.

Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club -- one of our Quick9 Featured Courses -- has helped organize the Rally For The Cure Classic on July 28th.    That event will include a  $5,000 putt for cash, a $50,000 Shootout,  a poker themed game, and  more.   It will be a 1:00 shotgun, and just $100 per player, including lunch and evening Hors D'oeuvres.     For more info, call 302-368-6640 ext. 5 or click here.
