New "Superman" Comic Book Sets Story in Philadelphia

Superman gets around.  From comics to TV and movies.  From Metropolis to the far reaches of space.  And, as of today, Philadelphia.


KYW's John Ostapkovich reports that "Superman" comics #701, on sale now, is the start of a mostly down-to-earth story arc in which the Man of Steel feels the need to walk across America to sort out his thoughts.

Robert Lefevre, manager of the Brave New Worlds comic shop in Old City, says his customers have been buzzing about Superman's visit, even though it's less unusual to see the city in media these days.

So how well does the new "Superman" comic book portray our town?

"Honestly, I don't think very well.  They refer to South Philly as the 'South Side,' which I don't think anyone (does).  And he orders a 'Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich,' which I don't feel is how anyone would ever refer to it.  But hey, they're doing their best."
