Thousands Ride to the Shore for Cancer Research
by KYW's Al Novack
Nearly 4,500 bikers are taking part in today's annual American Cancer Society bike-a-thon. It began at the foot of the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia and ends later today near the Jersey shore. The event is designed to raise money for cancer research and education. It began at the foot of the Ben Franklin on the Philadelphia side and ends in Atlantic County at the Buena Vista camp grounds later today.
Last year the American Cancer Society raised $1.6 million, and this year they hope to equal or surpass that amount.
