All-You-Can Eat Ice Cream Fest Wraps Up

by KYW's Mike DeNardo

A lot of folks chose to beat today's heat by stopping in at the charity ice cream festival at Penn's Landing.

When it seems hot enough to melt concrete, you have to have a strategy at an outdoor, all-you-can-eat ice cream festival.

Helen Wedegaertner of Havertown, Pa. (above left) has it down:

"Eat as much as you can, as fast as you can!"

She's not worried about brain freeze:

"It's so hot and so refreshing and it just tastes really good!"

Will it melt quickly if she doesn't attack it right away?

"Yeah, it will.  It's really hot."

Helen was keeping cool with Shannon Ferrara of Ardmore, Pa. (above right):

"We stay in the shade, and we get a lot of the water ice because it's more refreshing that the ice cream."

If the forecast for the next few days holds true, Helen and Shannon are going to have to find a lot of water ice.

Entry to the ice cream fest is $5.  The event wraps up this afternoon at 5pm.
