As you may have heard, the Awards For Excellence for the 2010 Daytime Emmys were celebrated Sunday night in a star-studded presentation on network television.

And while there were a number of awards for excellence in American daytime television, there was one presentation involving one individual that seemed to capture most of the attention.
His official name: Richard Wagstaff Clark. Game-show host, businessman, radio and television personality, and host of the long-running TV show “American Bandstand.”
He appeared on the Emmy awards show four years ago and hosted the New Year’s Eve salutes for years until suffering a stroke.
His speech still impaired from illness, Clark’s reaction to the tribute in his honor was short but passionate:
“I thank all the artists and all the kids who appeared on ‘American Bandstand’ while it was on the air for almost 40 years. Thank you.”
Dick Clark — 81 years old this November, in show business for 65 years, and now a legend in his time.
