Feds Keep the Lid on Bonnie Sweeten

by KYW's Tony Hanson

The Bucks County, Pa. woman who faked her own abduction and then fled to Disney World has finished her county prison term for identity theft and making false reports -- but now she's in federal custody, and the US attorney wants to keep her there.

Bonnie Sweeten (right) was released from county prison on Friday morning, but FBI agents immediately took her into custody to faces federal fraud, identity theft, and related charges.

She made her initial court appearance on Friday afternoon, where assistant US attorney Denise Wolf told the judge that government prosecutors will file a detention motion:

"We will file our motion in the next several days, but it will be predominantly that she poses a flight risk."

Sweeten, who said nothing in court, will face a bail and detention hearing next week. She is expected to enter a plea of not guilty at that time.
