Eagles' OL Jean-Gilles signs one-year tender

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles has signed his one-year tender offer.

The 6-foot-3, 358-pound guard was tendered at the fourth-round level after becoming a restricted free agent following the 2009 season. He was originally taken in the fourth round of the 2006 draft out of Georgia and has provided the Eagles with some much needed depth on the offensive line in recent years.

Jean-Gilles appeared in 13 regular-season games last season and made six starts at the right guard position. He also got the starting nod in the team's first-round playoff loss to Dallas.

In 2008, the lineman started 10 of 12 contests before being placed on injured reserve. He is expected to challenge Stacy Andrews for the starting right guard spot in 2010.

Over four NFL seasons, Jean-Gilles has played in 29 games, starting 16.
